Gold Rush Camp at Huntington Library
“Life in a Gold Rush Camp” will transport the Gold Rush era from the past to the present with the re-creation of a mining camp--complete with tents, mining equipment and costumed “ ‘49ers”--on the grounds of the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens.
In addition to hands-on crafts and activities, there will be demonstrations of panning, sluicing and assaying, as well as candle-making and woodworking.
The event complements the Huntington’s exhibition “Land of Golden Dreams: California in the Gold Rush Decade, 1848-1858.”
