The South Coast Water District plans to study two concepts for the use of its 30 acres along San Juan Creek between Stonehill Drive and South Coast Highway.
Out of five proposals, the board chose one plan that would generate the most profit by building offices on 13 acres and another plan that would have less office space and four acres of ballparks.
According to a study prepared by Market Profiles Inc. of Costa Mesa, office leases would potentially bring in an estimated $10.4 million over five years with 13 acres of office space. By reducing office space to make way for ball parks, the district would earn about $7.9 million over five years.
