The Brea Olinda school board this month will hear a report analyzing whether there is room to build more third-grade classrooms at local schools.

Architects will present their findings to the board July 17. Their study came after an annual survey of school principals and administrators listed third-grade class-size reduction as their priority. Principals told the district that reducing class sizes at some schools and not others would not be acceptable.

The request didn’t make it into the 2000-01 budget passed June 26, but Supt. Peggy Lynch said Monday the district will look at what needs to be done at each school site and study the issue from that point.
