Lang Ranch School Boundary Redrawn
The Conejo Valley Unified School District will redraw the boundaries for Lang Ranch Elementary School to exclude children living in two apartment complexes and two new home developments.
New students from the Knolls and Westlake Canyon apartments and North Pointe and Signature subdivisions will attend Ladera Elementary School instead of Lang Ranch beginning this fall, the school board voted unanimously Tuesday.
The change does not affect children who already attend Lang Ranch or siblings of Lang Ranch students who will be attending the school at the same time.
Some parents with children affected by the change said they didn’t like the move, because test scores for students at Ladera Elementary are lower than those at Lang Ranch.
Ladera has little more than 300 students attending this fall, while Lang Ranch is at its maximum capacity of 800 for next school year, which prompted the boundary change, officials said.
