A man charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the death of a 12-year-old boy turned himself in to sheriff’s deputies today, authorities said.

Angel Morelos, 25, of Canyon Country, allegedly hit the boy June 12 as the child tried to cross Plum Canyon Road at Rodgers Drive on a bicycle, said Sgt. Steve Spackman of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Santa Clarita Station. The boy, Jordan Gillespie of Saugus, later died.

After an investigation, county prosecutors charged Morelos with vehicular manslaughter. He surrendered to deputies at the Santa Clarita station at 11:45 a.m. and was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, Spackman said.
