Museum to Celebrate Coast Guard Birthday
To celebrate the 210th birthday of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Ventura County Maritime Museum plans a party Aug. 4 for personnel at the station at Channel Islands Harbor.
Festivities, which start at 7 p.m., include a speech by station Cmdr. Lt. Richard Christensen, hors d’oeuvres and a birthday cake, said David Leach, museum operations manager.
Invited guests include the 30 crew members of the Coast Guard’s 81-foot cutter Point Carrew, members of the Coast Guard’s recruiting office and a volunteer auxiliary group.
The party is free for service members, and $3 for museum and league members. The public is welcome; general admission is $5.
The museum is at 2731 S. Victoria Ave. at Fisherman’s Wharf in Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. For information, call 984-6260.
