Firm to Distribute Media, Protect Rights
Two investors in Napster Inc., the music file-sharing service being sued by the recording industry, have formed AppleSoup, which is developing technology for distributing media over the Internet in a way that pays content owners and protects copyrights.
AppleSoup raised $2.5 million from investors, including WaterView Advisors, and Bill Krause, former 3Com chief executive.
AppleSoup was founded by Adrian Scott, who is vice president of engineering, and Bill Bales, a former Napster vice president of business development, is its CEO.
