Councilman Norman Z. Eckenrode was elected last week as the new chairman of the North Orange County Sanitation District’s board of directors.
As a 10-year member of the board, Eckenrode ran against Peer Swan of the Urban Ranch Water District and won by getting 15 votes of the possible 23 from fellow board members.

The new chairman already had his first meeting as chairman and said he will concentrate on water replenishment and urban runoff.
