Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, the only surviving member of the slain president’s immediate family, will address next month’s Democratic National Convention.

Details, including when she will speak, have yet to be decided, said Mark Fabiani, a spokesman for Vice President Al Gore.

Schlossberg’s speech will be 40 years after her father accepted the Democratic nomination at the last convention in Los Angeles in 1960.

This year’s convention in Los Angeles is scheduled for Aug. 14-17. President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton already are scheduled to speak on the opening night.

Hoping to spread their message across the country, Democrats on Tuesday unveiled a series of Internet-based opportunities for the public to tap into the convention.

Announcing the initiatives over an Internet news conference, they said plans include streaming gavel-to-gavel coverage over the convention Web site and 360-degree cameras that will allow users to view the entire room. They also plan online chats with Democratic officials and special Web video clips.
