A man who handed a bank teller a note demanding money got away with an undisclosed amount of cash Monday afternoon, authorities said.
After the robbery, investigators closed the Bank of America branch in the 1400 block of North Moorpark Road from about 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. while they interviewed about 10 employees and customers who witnessed the incident.
No weapons were seen and no one was injured in the robbery, said Senior Deputy Ed Tumbleson of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Witnesses told authorities that the man left the bank parking lot in a black sport utility vehicle. He was described as a cleanshaven white man in his 40s, 5 feet 7, with light brown hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap.
About a dozen squad cars and a helicopter staked out locations and searched the area for the vehicle.
Tumbleson said an FBI agent working the case will try to identify the robber by matching images from the bank’s security cameras with the FBI’s database.
