Morse Avenue Elementary School in Placentia has received a $1.2-million grant from the U.S. Department of Education for a comprehensive enrichment program called Project Galileo.
The program is designed to help make sure limited-English-speaking students get the same opportunities of other students, but because of its extensive outreach it will help all students on campus, Principal Randi Trontz said.
The school is still developing details of the program, but Trontz said she’s already ordered 20 computers and expanded the hours of the school’s computer laboratory aide to full-time status.
A coordinator for the grant program will be hired soon to help plan the details, which should be completed later this summer, Trontz said.
