Councilman Henry Wedaa said he will ask his colleagues to vote next week on reducing medical benefits for City Council members.

City staff members have prepared a report detailing the salary and benefits received by council members. The information was supposed to be considered last week, but because the meeting was running late it was postponed to Aug. 1.

The amount each council member gets varies, depending on the kind of medical coverage selected, Finance Director Susan Hartman said. Some council members choose family insurance, which is why their total income seems higher, she said.
