The City Council will consider the final phase of a three-step weed abatement program it initiated in March.

The goal of the program is to remove weeds from both public rights of way and private property.

During the first phase, the city identified areas where weeds could be declared a public nuisance. The second phase, approved in April, authorized city staff to remove offending weeds.

During the second phase, the city contracted out weed abatement projects on 25 properties, at a total cost of $3,315.

The council will consider approving a staff report listing costs for the public projects, hear objections to the report findings from affected property owners and, as the final phase of the project, assess the fees to the property taxes of the individual properties.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the council chamber at City Hall at 33282 Street of the Golden Lantern, Suite 210.
