The nomination period for two council seats is only a week old, but one resident already has started raising funds.
“This campaign is going to pick up speed all by itself,” said four-year resident Roderick Reed. “Money isn’t going to be the key here because we have an issue that appeals to people.”
The issue, he said, is having council members who live outside the pricey gates of Nellie Gail.
Three of the current council members live in Nellie Gail.
Council members serve a term of four years and are paid $422.12 a month.
