Lenny Kravitz has been recording new material, though at this point it’s uncertain whether he will release a greatest-hits collection with a couple of new tracks in the fall or have a full new album in early 2001. . . .

Bono has a guest vocal on “Air Suspension,” a song on the upcoming album “Aural & Hearty” by New York techno artist Mocean Worker, due Oct. 10. The piece was recorded when the two were involved in sessions for the soundtrack to “The Million Dollar Hotel,” the Wim Wenders film made from a Bono-written story. . . .

R&B; singer Chante Moore is finishing her new album, “Exposed,” due Nov. 7 and featuring production from the Jimmy Jam-Terry Lewis team, Jermaine Dupri and Bob & Tim. . . . Vitamin C, fresh off her seasonal “Graduation (Friends Forever)” hit, is working on a second album. Dallas Austin is producing one song, while Billy Steinberg (“Like a Virgin”) and Pam Shane (co-writer of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle”) are among the contributing songwriters. . . .

A mutual admiration society led “South Park” co-conspirators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to direct a video for twisted rock duo Ween’s song “Even If You Don’t.” The clip, made for a paltry $12,000 scraped together by Dean and Gene Ween without help from their label, Elektra Records, is a relatively tame tale (for Parker and Stone) of a boy done wrong by his girlfriend--though it does somehow involve a donkey. . . .

Having waited out several business-related delays, Afghan Whigs leader Greg Dulli has now reworked an album by his side project, the Twilight Singers. Dulli took the original recordings, made three years ago, to England to work with the acid-jazz remix team Fila Brazillia, which recorded three new songs with him and put new spins on most of the rest. It’s due Sept. 12. . . .

Singer-songwriter Richard Buckner has written and recorded a song cycle based on Edgar Lee Masters’ 1915 classic, “Spoon River Anthology.” The album, presented as one long piece rather than individual songs, features backing from the band Calexico and is due Oct. 3.
