CLU Receives Grant From Keck Foundation

* Cal Lutheran University received a $500,000 grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation to enhance its science program. The grant provides funding for new equipment and a networking infrastructure for scientific applications in microscopy, modeling and data acquisition and analysis. The Los Angeles-based foundation, started by the late Superior Oil Co. founder W.M. Keck, is one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the nation. Its grants primarily are awarded to higher education, medical research, science and engineering programs.

Rio Mesa High Graduate Wins Scholarship

* The Mesa Education Foundation awarded its Lee Welsh memorial scholarship to Sarah Gardner, a Rio Mesa High School graduate. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior at the high school based on academic merit and citizenship. Sarah is the daughter of Marjo and David Gardner of Camarillo. She will attend USC in the fall, majoring in filmic writing.
