Brummett Receives Honor, Promotion

Right-handed pitcher Sean Brummett has been promoted to double-A Erie after a good showing this season for Class-A Cedar Rapids.

Brummett was selected the Angels’ minor league pitcher of the month in June for his 3-2 record and 0.83 earned-run average for Cedar Rapids. He spent most of the season in the bullpen before recently moving into the starting rotation, posting a 1.00 ERA in 72 1/3 innings.

In his first start for Erie, he gave up eight hits and three runs in seven innings and took the loss. In his next outing, he went 7 2/3 innings, giving up one run and seven hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven but lost the game, 1-0. He has a 1.84 ERA after the two games.

Infielder Keith Johnson is having a good season with triple-A Edmonton. Johnson is batting .302 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs in 83 games. He was named the Angels’ organizational player of the month for June when he batted .310 with five home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Catcher Shawn Wooten continues to hit well for the Trappers, raising his average to .301 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs in 45 games.

Matt Wise, a former Cal State Fullerton pitcher, has improved his record to 9-6 with Edmonton. His ERA is 3.69.

Left-handed pitcher Jeff Hundley has been promoted from Class-A Lake Elsinore to Edmonton. He pitched in nine games, including eight starts, with the Storm, compiling a 4.63 ERA and striking out 37 in 44 2/3 innings.
