Regular “Whad’ya Know?” listeners might remember that two weeks ago novelist Jane Smiley stood up host Michael Feldman for the public radio show. But Writers Bloc has them together tonight, when Feldman will interview the author of “Moo,” “A Thousand Acres” and the recent bestseller “Horse Heaven.”

Washington Prep High School, the Los Angeles Unified School District’s new musical magnet supported by Gregory Hines, Angela Bassett and other luminaries, presents “What’s Going On,” based on Mark Swinton’s drama “Harlem Hear My Cry.” The musical about a young small-town musician with big-city dreams was conceived by Fernando Pullum. The school’s award-winning Washington Prep Jazz Ensemble, directed by Pullum, will provide accompaniment.
