Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips pleaded not guilty to three felony and three misdemeanor charges Wednesday in connection with an alleged run-in with his girlfriend at their Beverly Hills home.

Phillips, 25, was arrested around noon Saturday, about eight hours after police responded to a domestic violence call at his home in the 9000 block of Burton Way. The former Baldwin Park High and Nebraska star fled the scene before officers arrived, but returned and was taken into custody without incident.

The girlfriend declined medical treatment but was given first aid by police at the scene.

Phillips was charged with felony counts of domestic abuse, making a terrorist threat and conspiring to dissuade a witness, as well as misdemeanor counts for possessing a concealed firearm in a car, carrying a loaded firearm and vandalism. He was being held on $630,000 bail.

Phillips, whose football career was marred by legal and disciplinary problems, was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 1996. He later played for the Miami Dolphins and most recently for the San Francisco 49ers, who suspended and then waived Phillips in November after he refused to participate in a practice drill.
