Irvine’s recreational landscape will be in full bloom this month, when city officials unveil three recently completed parks.

The city will host two ceremonies in June to give the public its first look at the sprawling Col. Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park and Hicks Canyon Community Park.

Irvine also will officially reopen the recently improved Harvard Community Athletic Park and the city’s first complex for skateboarders and in-line skaters.

The first ceremony will take place Saturday, when the city opens the 42-acre Col. Bill Barber park next to the Irvine Civic Center on Civic Center Plaza. The ceremony will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Harvard Community Athletic Park reopening is scheduled for 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 17 at the park, 14701 Harvard Ave. Hicks Canyon Community Park also opens June 17, with a ceremony from noon to 2 p.m. at the park, 3864 View Park.
