Santa Ana Police Seek Two in Fatal Home Invasion Robbery
Santa Ana police Wednesday asked for the public’s help in locating a male and a female suspect in a home invasion robbery that led to the shooting death of a 31-year-old father.
Juan Gomez was shot Monday morning in front of his wife and 3-year-old son by two suspects who talked their way into the home in the 2300 block of South Center Street, authorities said.
The man and woman gained entry by convincing the family that they were selling fruit. The invaders then tied up the four adults and searched the apartment for valuables. When Gomez tried to break free, one of the robbers shot him several times before fleeing with the accomplice, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Raul Luna said.
Gomez was taken to Fountain Valley Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Luna said investigators had some leads, including one that the male robber’s name may be Jerry.
The man was described as between 18 and 20 years old, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black baseball cap and a white T-shirt.
The woman was described as being in her mid-20s, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, medium build. She was wearing a dark shirt and blue pants, Luna said.
