City officials are unsure whether to hop on board a new multi-city agency set up to address railroad projects in the inland North County area.

City staff members support the idea of joining OnTrac, a joint powers authority established by Placentia to get funding and plan railroad projects. So far, Placentia is the only member of the agency, and it plans to raise and spend about $250 million to lower the tracks throughout the city. Anaheim, Fullerton and Yorba Linda have been invited to join the agency to give the cities more political clout when seeking grants and other sources of funding.

Public Works Director Roy Stephenson said he thought the city should join the agency. He will present the issue to the City Council on June 20.
