Tasteless, not Comedic

I was appalled to read about a German television station’s upcoming production of a comedy, “Goebbels and Geduldig,” based on a Jewish man impersonating Joseph Goebbels in order to free the woman he loves (Morning Report, June 1).

This concept is more than merely tasteless; it is grossly offensive, made more so by the fact that it is being produced in the country that wiped out 6 million of my people and 5 million others. This is not fodder for comedy. The producers of this travesty would be better directed to ask themselves and their older family members what their parents and grandparents were doing during this comically bereft period of history.

Further, this item should not have been reduced to a mere blurb in the entertainment section, but rather run as an actual news item in the international section of your paper. It merits more than a “ho-hum” bit of attention.
