Consumers Duped by Insurance Industry

Share

Is it finally obvious to everyone that insurance companies pulled a fast one on the voters in March’s election [“Get Set for Insurance Rates to Inflate,” Money Talk, May 26]?

They lied to us about drunk and uninsured drivers being able to sue under Propositions 30 and 31, and they surely lied to us about rate increases, claiming that if we didn’t defeat the propositions our rates would go up.

Well, we defeated the propositions, and, guess what? Our rates are going up. We’ve been duped again by an industry that has enjoyed open season on consumers for years. We blew our chance in March by defeating legislation that would have held them accountable for bad-faith actions.

Now we’re left with higher rates and no accountability. When are we going to wise up?
