RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA
The city is expecting to collect a bit more than $7.5 million in tax money between June 30 of this year and June 30, 2001. A preliminary budget for 2000-01 shows that the city has just less than $1.4 million left in its coffers since it began collecting taxes on the first of January.
The new budget estimates show the city will bring in $1.64 million more than it will spend by the end of the next fiscal year. That extra money can then go into the city’s surplus funds.
Council members will have a chance to approve the budget at their regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Trabuco Canyon Water District headquarters, 32003 Dove Canyon Drive.
