The Volunteers in Policing Program has reached a milestone of 10,000 hours of work donated to the Police Department, but it needs more helpers.
For the last three years, the program’s volunteers have been assisting at the station and patrolling schools, parks and neighborhoods. The Police Department provides seven weeks of training and uniforms, and volunteers are asked to donate a minimum of four hours a week. Applications are available at the Police Department, 5275 Orange Ave.
