LAGUNA BEACH
Laguna Beach recently hired an outside consultant to analyze its sewer division operations and provide guidance on how to prevent sewage spills.
Steve Bucknam of Bucknam and Associates Inc. will review the city’s policies, procedures, practices, personnel and capital improvement programs over a four-month period beginning this month. His services will cost the city $24,500.
Bucknam and Associates has performed similar work for Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Westminster and Arcadia.
Also, Laguna Beach plans to connect all major storm drains in the city to the sewer system within 18 months. After that, if there is a sewage spill, it would go into the sewer system instead of reaching the ocean.
