Beverly J. Gordy; Ex-College District Employee
Beverly J. Gordy, a former financial aid coordinator for the county’s community college district, died Sunday at home in Ventura after a brief battle with cancer. She was 73.
She was born Sept. 4, 1926, to Robert and Erma Mabry in Birmingham, Ala., and lived in Ventura for 35 years with her husband, James.
Gordy worked as a financial aid coordinator in the Ventura County Community College District office for 17 years and was a longtime member of Delta Theta Tau, a philanthropic sorority.
Susan Reynolds of Ventura said her mother enjoyed traveling and sewing and was regularly enrolled in a Monday evening sewing class at Ventura College.
In addition to her daughter and her husband of 53 years, Gordy is survived by another daughter, Carol Hannah of Ventura, and four grandchildren.
A service is planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delta Theta Tau.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
