Columbia’s Cristina Teuscher, the NCAA swimming champion whose times in the 400-meter freestyle and individual medley were the second-fastest in the world this year, won the Honda-Broderick Cup as the nation’s outstanding collegiate woman athlete.

Teuscher was honored Monday night at the 24th annual Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year dinner. She was selected by a national vote involving more than 900 NCAA-member schools.

The senior from New Rochelle, N.Y., was undefeated in nine meets this season, and never lost an individual race during her college career.

“What a way to top off a college career,” Teuscher said. “I’m so happy I could share this with Columbia University.”

Basketball player Jayne Even of North Dakota State was honored as the Division II Woman Athlete of the Year and Alia Fischer, who played basketball for Washington University in St. Louis, was the Division III winner.
