Wildlife Benefit

Eighty-three-year-old singer John Raitt will perform Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at a benefit for the Nature of Wildworks wildlife care center in Topanga. The Southern California native made his Broadway debut in 1945 as Billy Bigelow in the original production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel.” The nonprofit Wildworks Center was founded five years ago to provide care and shelter for animals that cannot be released into the wild. The fund-raiser will offer close-up looks at birds, reptiles and mammals, plus clowns, storytelling, face-painting and other activities.

Hot Jazz

The Coyote Hills Jazz Band will perform the hot jazz music of 1920s Chicago and New Orleans on Saturday at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park. Tunes made famous by such performers as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Bessie Smith, Sophie Tucker and Bing Crosby will be featured.

Cactus Show

The Los Angeles Cactus and Succulent Society Annual Show and Sale this weekend in Encino promises two days of hard-to-find, rare and unusual cactuses and other succulents.

Choral Music

In his last performance as conductor, Frank Basile will lead the Burbank Chorale in Haydn’s “The Creation” Sunday at Forest Lawn. Founded in 1920, the Burbank Chorale is one of the oldest performing organizations in the San Fernando Valley.
