DANA POINT
The City Council has approved St. Edward Roman Catholic Church’s plans to build a second story to its school and a 198-space parking lot.
The council unanimously approved the measure at its meeting Tuesday.
Residents near the church were concerned primarily with increased traffic and its effect on safety. Neighbors of the church claimed the additional story bucked the single-story standard of the neighborhood and imposed upon their privacy.
The council concluded the second-story addition was well within the zoning standards permitted by the city.
