Frank DePasquale has been named permanent superintendent of the Moorpark Unified School District.

DePasquale had been interim superintendent since April 1, when he took over for Thomas Duffy. DePasquale served under Duffy as assistant superintendent of support services for eight years.

DePasquale started working in the district in 1981. He also has been principal at Campus Canyon and Flory schools.

DePasquale, who has a doctorate from UC Santa Barbara, said one of his main priorities is to get more money for high-tech teaching tools in the classrooms.

“We’re underfunded in technology,” DePasquale said. “We know what we need to do, getting students access to the Internet, but we haven’t had the funding. I want every student in this district, from third grade on up, to have Internet access on a routine basis.”

DePasquale also wants to improve Stanford 9 standardized test scores in the district.
