Senator’s Grandson Arrested in Second Sex Assault Case
The 21-year-old grandson of state Sen. Richard Mountjoy (R-Arcadia), slated to go on trial next month on charges of sex with a minor, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual assault and underage sex with a different female juvenile.
Michael Mountjoy was arrested at Brackett Field, a small airport in La Verne where he is employed, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Bruce Thomas.
Mountjoy was held on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor and sexual assault, Thomas said. No other information was released. Mountjoy was booked at the Walnut sheriff’s station, where he was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
He already faces an Aug. 17 trial on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a minor and possession of an assault rifle in the earlier case. Authorities allege that he met that 15-year-old girl through the Internet. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
