City Delays Vote on Ormond Beach Pact
The City Council has postponed approval of an agreement with Ormond Beach Co., a limited liability company from Delaware, that would help come up with plans for development of the Ormond Beach area.
Approval was postponed at Tuesday’s meeting because of a written request by an architectural firm that represents some of the landowners in the 1,300-acre area.
“We didn’t get to see the 17-page document and we are supposed to be the eyes and ears for these property owners,” said George Lauterbach, chief executive of Lauterbach & Associates, the architecture firm. “This is just a due diligence thing.”
Lauterbach said he had not heard of any controversy or concern from residents related to the agreement, which would set the stage for land-use plans. Those plans could include a private university, resource conservation and residential construction.
Ormond Beach is in a mostly unincorporated area bound on the north by Pleasant Valley Road, the east by Olds and Arnold roads and the southwest by the ocean.
