A 14-year-old boy suffered head injuries Friday afternoon when he rode his skateboard out of a driveway into the path of a car, police said.

The teen, who police refused to identify, was in good condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was transported after the noontime incident in front of his house in the 1700 block of Alturas Street, police said.

According to Oxnard Police Officer Donald Mulville, Laquetta Johnson was driving her 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix south on Alturas at about 25 mph when she struck the teen.

Mulville said Johnson braked and swerved but still struck the boy, who bounced off the car’s hood and windshield.

Johnson was not cited.
