* Yahoo Inc., the Internet-search service, agreed to buy closely held EGroups Inc. for $431.7 million in stock to gain technology for sending electronic mail to groups of people. EGroups’ Web site has 17 million members who have created more than 800,000 special-interest groups. Its software allows customers to transmit mail to everyone in a group without having to individually address the message to each recipient.

* Healtheon/WebMD, the biggest Internet company connecting doctors, patients and insurers, said it hired Lyn Andrews, former president of Walt Disney Co.’s ABC Radio Networks, to be president of its consumer division. Andrews will head Healtheon’s consumer information Web site and WebMD Television.
