The Sacramento Kings felt confident after beating the San Antonio Spurs at San Antonio.

“It’s a good game for us to beat the defending champions on their floor,” Chris Webber said after the Kings’ 108-103 victory in overtime Saturday in front of a season-high 35,113 at the Alamodome. “It could be a springboard for us.”

Webber scored 31 points as the Kings won for only the second time in their last seven games.

Webber made four shots and had nine points in the final 5:31 of the fourth quarter as the Kings fought from an 85-79 deficit to force overtime.

“Webber played a great game,” Spur Coach Gregg Popovich said. “You’ve got to give him credit. He’s really doing well at all phases of the game.”

Once into overtime, the game belonged to Jon Barry, who scored eight points in the extra period, including two three-point baskets.

“Late in the game, I’m just looking for my shot and trying to play as smart as possible,” Barry said. “I think this could be the kind of win that turns our season around. We’ve been struggling for the last couple weeks.”

David Robinson led the Spurs with 23 points, and Tim Duncan returned after a four-game absence because of a lower abdominal strain to score 22.

The Kings forced overtime by outscoring the Spurs, 13-7, during the last 5:31 of regulation.

“This may very well have been our best all-around effort of the year,” King Coach Rick Adelman said. “So many guys stepped it up tonight. We were not going to hurt ourselves. We were going to make them beat us and earn a victory. Hopefully, this will be a jump start to our season.”

John Starks, who wants to be waived by the Chicago Bulls so he can go to a playoff contender, sat out his fourth game Saturday because of tendinitis in his right knee. While Coach Tim Floyd said Starks won’t play until a grievance arbitrator rules on his request, Starks said it all depends on his knee.
