Jane Phyllis Robinson; Former Saloon Owner

Jane Phyllis Robinson, former owner of the Rendezvous Room Cocktail Lounge, died March 3 following a brief illness. She was 64.

Born Dec. 17, 1935, in St. Paul, Minn., she and her husband James W. Robinson were the owners for 30 years of the Rendezvous Room, one of Ventura’s oldest saloons.

She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 339 Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1679 Auxiliary.

Longtime friend Linda Dunn said Robinson liked to go up to Lake Casitas and relax. She also enjoyed working in her garden.

Robinson was a member of the Horizon Foursquare Church in Ventura.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James.

She is survived by daughter Lorrie Wimpee Robinson of Bakersfield; son Larry Robinson of Tennessee; brothers Bill, Jim and Gary Kallusky of Ventura; three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. A gathering of friends and family will follow at American Legion Post No. 339 on Palm Street in Ventura.
