Researchers brought an academic perspective to a recent Ocean Water Quality Advisory Board meeting, as board members search for a multidimensional approach to cleaning local waters.
UC Irvine professor Sunny Jiang said that even though Laguna’s beaches usually meet state water quality standards, human viruses, like Hepatitis A, are sometimes detected.
Jiang and professor Stanley Grant, who both test ocean water quality, spoke with the group last week.
