Preschool Seeks to Boost Enrollment
Parent Education Preschool is looking for families interested in signing up their children for a class in Ventura.
The preschool class, for 3- to 5-year-olds, takes place at Junipero Serra School in Ventura on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class is run through Ventura Unified School District’s adult education program.
To enroll, a parent or grandparent must agree to be with the child during each class session, learning communication, discipline and teaching skills, and attend a parenting class once a month. The nine-week program costs $55.
Bonnie Hainey, whose son attends the preschool, said enrollment dropped this year when the class moved from Elmhurst School to Serra School.
“We are in a precarious position,” Hainey said. “If we cannot get our numbers up, we may lose the classroom.”
