Junior Achievement Volunteers Sought

The Ventura County School-to-Career Network is seeking volunteers to work as classroom consultants for Junior Achievement, an organization that brings community business concepts into schools.

Volunteers lead discussions and assist students with activities developed by Junior Achievement. Volunteers attend a two-hour training session and commit to visit a classroom 25 to 45 minutes one day a week for five weeks.

The School-to-Career Network provides seed money to reach the 40,000 primary students in Ventura County.

“School-to-Career wanted to implement a program that would bring businesses and students together,” said Ed Lyon, Ventura County School-to-Career director.

“We felt that Junior Achievement and School-to-Career were a perfect match.”

Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization that since 1919 has aimed at inspiring youths to value free enterprise and understand business and economics concepts.
