Stanley Ralph Ross; Prolific Actor, Writer, Producer

Stanley Ralph Ross, 64, an actor, writer and producer who co-wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical “Chaplin” produced at the Music Center. Active in television and films for more than 30 years as a writer/director/producer and actor, Ross wrote more than 250 TV shows, with multiple scripts for “Batman,” “The Monkees,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “Columbo” and others. As an actor he appeared on television in “Superior Court” and “Falcon Crest,” among others. Movies included “Sleeper,” “Tony Rome” and “Flight of the Phoenix.” He was a prominent voice-over artist, contributing to hundreds of commercials and animated children’s programs. Ross was the co-author with Jay Robert Nash of “The Motion Picture Guide,” a 17-volume encyclopedia of reviews and data on every movie ever made. On Thursday in Los Angeles of cancer.
