Spaying and Neutering of Pets

* Re the city’s spay / neuter proposal:

Those of us who work at animal shelters can no longer stand killing hundreds of thousands of adoptable animals every year in Los Angeles because there are no consequences for letting your animal breed uncontrollably.

[Pet] breeders will have the public think that those of us for this proposal are against any animals being bred, but that is not the case. This proposal will stop backyard breeders trying to make a quick buck without any concern for the quality of the litter or where that litter ends up.

If you are wondering why we need this mandatory spay / neuter ordinance, visit your local animal shelter and watch them kill a healthy, friendly, adoptable dog or cat. You shouldn’t have to look far. It happens every single day.
