Benefactor Gives Teachers St. Patrick’s Day Gift of Green
An anonymous donor made sure that teachers at Primary Plus School got their pot of gold on St. Patrick’s Day, leaving them $1,000 checks at a holiday party.
The green cashier’s checks, hidden in 29 white envelopes, were inside a gold plastic pot that was left on the buffet table. No one noticed who had dropped off the pot.
“There was disbelief, there were tears and there was yelling, lots and lots of yelling,” preschool director Gail Richards said.
Day care staff and preschool teachers make $10 to $15 an hour working at the private school.
“You get little gifts now and then, thank-yous and such, but when I opened the check and saw how big of a thank-you, I just started to cry,” said teacher Valerie Gradjeda.
Teachers said they’d love to thank their benefactor in person.
