Coastal Act

Re “Addressing the Lack of Affordable Housing,” March 20: I was amused by the thinly veiled ploy of real estate developers to blame California’s housing shortage on the California Coastal Act. Assembly Bill 2310, authored by Denise Ducheny (D-San Diego) and no doubt written by real estate developers, makes the absurd argument that by gutting the Coastal Act, the California housing shortage would be solved.

This belies the fact that the housing shortage will be solved by building in the interior, where the working people live, not on the coast, where new housing could only be afforded by millionaires. When I see legislators make decisions like this, I’m glad I voted for term limits.
