: Rage Against the Machine will not be joining Korn and Limp Bizkit on a proposed series of stadium dates this summer. The L.A. band, which just signed with manager John Silva (Beck, Foo Fighters), is making plans to headline its own tour. . . .

Director David Fincher (the movies “Seven” and “Fight Club”) has signed on to direct the first video for the band A Perfect Circle, which features Tool’s Maynard James Keenan and longtime friend Billy Howerdel. Filming of the clip for the song “Judith” begins in L.A. this week. Lisa Worden, music director of KROQ-FM (106.7), says that the band’s debut album, “Mer de Noms,” due from Virgin Records on May 23, is among the most-anticipated new releases in the rock world. . . .

Motley Crue has just begun work on its first album of the post-Tommy Lee era, working with producer Mike Klink, whose credits include Guns ‘N Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction.” Drummer Randy Castillo, previously employed by Ozzy Osbourne, has taken over for Lee. . . .

English star Robbie Williams is working on his third solo album It’s due Aug. 28 and will mark the first of his albums to be released globally. Last year’s “The Ego Has Landed,” his only U.S. album, compiled tracks from two collections already out in Europe and elsewhere.
