Kudos to writer Richard Cromelin for getting beyond the Madonna knob-twirling (“At Last, Things Turn His Way,” March 5).

While he may be too genteel to acknowledge it, William Orbit is something of a seminal figure for electronica fans over 30, a musical heir to the ‘70s German synthesizer pioneers Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk. Merging the sensual, lush soundscapes of the former, and the cool electrobeats of the latter, Orbit (mostly under the Strange Cargo aegis) crafted a suave, intoxicating mix of the cerebral and the commercial--the brain and booty in complete agreement.
