Island Adventure
Perhaps you’ve caught a glimpse of Anacapa and Santa Cruz islands from the Ventura or Santa Barbara coasts on a clear day. Now Calendar Live shows you how to get a closer look at the beauty of these two Channel Islands by kayak. It’s really not as difficult as it may seem. Several companies offer kayaking adventures.
An 11-mile boat ride takes visitors from the Channel Islands Harbor to Anacapa. Then, under a guide’s direction, even children can board kayaks, grab paddles and explore the arches, cracks, fissures, chambers and caves of the islands. Highlights include watching sea lions and harbor seals play and seeing the famous Painted Cave of Santa Cruz.
