Esther Marguerite Crist; 31-Year County Resident
Esther Marguerite Crist, a homemaker, died Sunday at home in Ventura. She was 73.
She was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Susquehanna, Pa., and has been a resident of Ventura County for the last 31 years.
She graduated from Juanita College in Huntington, Pa., and received her teaching credential from USC.
Crist was a member of Community Presbyterian Church of Ventura. She and her husband, the Rev. Edwin Crist, have been active in the church. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Club and the Gold Coast Choir.
She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas E. Crist, in 1981.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by sons Robin Ellison of Ventura, Whitney Edwyn Crist and Sheridan Elwyn Crist, both of Los Angeles; daughter-in-law Julie Crist of Ventura; brothers the Rev. Gordon Whitney of Westgrove, Pa., and Dr. Leslie Whitney of Chadds Ford, Pa.; sisters Lois Folk of Berwick, Pa., and Virginia Buchmann of Sayr, Pa.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, with the Rev. Mark Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
