UCLA Film and Television Archive presents “Digital in Quebec,” a program of short films from Quebec-based artists who use the latest techniques in digital artistry. Included in the lineup are “The Sound of the Carceri,” a 1997 short that features cellist Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach in digital surroundings; short medical documentaries “Atheromatosis” and “Malaria”; and “The Boxer” a work in progress that features cutting-edge motion-capture techniques. In addition, the archive will screen the Academy Award-winning animated short “The Old Man and the Sea.”

One of American music’s great songwriters for three decades, John Prine has expanded his steady cult following with his latest album, a set of duets on some other songwriters’ country classics. Douglas Sills reprises his Tony Award-nominated title role in Nan Knighton and Frank Wildhorn’s musical version of “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” Baroness Orczy’s tale of romance and swashbuckling derring-do revolves around the elusive Pimpernel’s crusade for justice during the French Revolution.
